Meet Jessica Earhart, our Community Inclusion Coordinator. We asked her five questions so you can get to know and love her just as much as we do!
What is your background? Where do you come from?
I am originally from Iowa and attended the University of Iowa where I received my bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Prior to coming to Pioneer Center, I worked at Northwest Special Recreation Association for four years where I developed and implemented various recreational activities such as travel programs, sports, arts & crafts, and summer day camps.
What draws you to social services and/or developmental disability services?
Growing up I always wanted a job that I would truly enjoy going to everyday. I wanted to not only work and help people but I also wanted to make an impact in their lives. I started doing a lot with Special Olympics and discovered my passion of working with individuals with disabilities in high school. I was able to combine that passion with a degree and now I have a career working with some of the coolest people I know.
What’s rockin’ your world this month?
I am currently developing a new program that will be focusing specifically around recreation and leisure activities. Hopefully with the help of some co-workers and the fun ideas from our clients we will create a fun and exciting new program. Keep an eye our for the exciting things the RISE program will be doing this month.
Who inspires you?
To be honest my mom and my fiancé inspire me everyday to be a better person and to always work hard and follow your dreams.
Tell us something personal about yourself.
I am a massive Iowa football fan and am super excited for football season to come back…..Go Hawkeyes!!!!! Other than looking forward to football season I am also excited to get outside, enjoy nature and hopefully do some kayaking.
