Helping the Homeless with Emergency Shelters

For 30 years, McHenry County PADS along with the generous assistance from church partner sites and volunteers has been able to provide year-long emergency shelter for those experiencing homelessness throughout McHenry County.

With the ability to sleep up to 34 people each night, the opportunity for additional shelter through churches each night has allowed even more support. PADS serves individuals, seniors, families, veterans and all walks of life to seek shelter, warmth, safety and basic human needs during the winter months.

But it cannot be done alone.

With freezing temperatures predicted for this week, the increasing need for shelter is a reality in our community. McHenry County PADS will remain operating as normal. Our policy and procedures allow us to properly conduct in-take admissions, assess any risk factors, and support the need for shelter, self-sufficiency, but most of all, safety of all being served within the shelter.
