This past weekend, two Pioneer Center Special Olympics basketball teams won gold at the annual regional basketball tournament.
In 2015, Pioneer Center fostered a new commitment to health and fitness by joining Special Olympics with basketball being the very first sport individuals competed in. The team started out with nine players and over the last year and half grew to 17 players. The maximum players for a team’s roster is 15, so the clients split to form two unique teams—the Pioneers and the Bulls. Both teams will be heading to Bloomington, Illinois, in March to participate in the Special Olympics State Tournament.
