Pioneer Center provides a wealth of benefits to the McHenry community and the surrounding area. In addition to helping people experiencing homelessness and providing services for individuals with a developmental disability, Pioneer Center offers behavioral health services. Our youth services are designed to specifically meet the needs of children and families.
The current Behavioral Health Services division is expanding its Jefferson Street location in Woodstock, with both a renovation and the addition of a Child & Family Therapy Services on an outpatient basis. “After receiving feedback regarding our existing services, we recognized a vital need for therapy services for children and adolescents,” said Liz Quijada, LCSW, Child & Family Services Manager for Pioneer Center. “Our goal is for children and families to come in and feel like they’re at home. We’ve brightened and improved our interior decor with calm neutral colors and child-friendly therapy rooms.”
The new expanded Child & Family Therapy Services addresses adverse childhood experiences that impact a person’s lifelong development. “We are unique in that our services are very specialized,” added Quijada. “We mitigate the effects of trauma, for children and families, by focusing on their mental health and wellbeing. Our new facility will allow us to help a lot more children in the community.”
Appointments are available Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm, and Fridays from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. For more information, please contact:
