You may know Buddyz for their great food and fun atmosphere. But did you know that the McHenry pizza place also offers great opportunities to Pioneer Center clients? Since they opened in September 2010, Buddyz has actively hired clients from Pioneer Center’s Community Employment Services program. In fact, two individuals have worked there since the restaurant’s grand opening. “It has been phenomenal,” Joe Scarnato, Buddyz owner, explains about how he got started with Pioneer Center and the program, “They came to a job fair I had before I opened. The program was new to me and we went full throttle with the program. It has worked out for us.” Clients have a variety of responsibilities, everything from dishwashing and wrapping silverware to bussing tables. So next time you’re craving a slice of pizza, think of Buddyz. The Downtown McHenry-Riverwalk location offers outdoor seating with a boat dock and access to the Fox River. You can check out their menu at www.buddyzpizza.com or visit one of their locations in McHenry or Algonquin.
