The infamous Holiday Book Review benefiting Pioneer Center for Human Services is now accepting reservations! Still days before formal invitations are mailed; the event has begun to receive inquiries on how to reserve seats and tables.
“Year after year this event never ceases to amaze me. Seats begin to sell before we even officially invite the community to attend. Last year, we had over 520 people supporting our event. It was a spectacular way to kick off the holiday season,” said Christin Kruse, Chief Development Officer for Pioneer Center.
The event, in its eighth year, will take place at D’Andrea Banquets in Crystal Lake on Friday, December 6. And, due to its constant sell-out status, coordinators of the event have expanded the day to include an evening version. The afternoon event will still include all the favorites including a delicious lunch, basket raffles, a cash bar and…of course, a hilarious dramatic book reading. The evening event will be a little different with an assortment of scrumptious tapas, dessert stations and a cash bar. Another variation will be that the afternoon has reserved seating while the evening features general seating unless a full table for 10 is reserved.
This year’s book title arrives hot on the heels of the much-anticipated birth of Prince George. Barbara Rinella, renowned book dramatist will present Elizabeth the Queen, The Life of a Modern Monarch by Sally Bedell Smith. Barbara’s presentation will examine the life of this amazing family who has been the focus of public fascination for generations.
For the afternoon event, a social hour and raffles begin at 11:00 am, lunch will be served at 12:30 pm and the presentation will begin after lunch. For the evening event, a social hour and raffles begin at 5:30 pm, food stations open at 6:00 pm and the presentation will begin at 7:30 pm.
Afternoon tickets are $40 and evening tickets are $50. Tables of 10 are available for both events. Attendees should make note that for the evening the only way to have reserved seating is to purchase a full table of 10.
In addition, don’t forget to purchase your raffle tickets for the chance to be a grand prize winner! We have a great line up of prizes this year, including an Apple iPAD 2, VIZIO 50” Class LED Smart TV, home wine tasting for 20 with appetizers by 1776 Restaurant, and a seven day Cozumel vacation package that includes a $1,500 cash allowance for travel or activities.
