Our History, Mission, Vision & Values

In 1958, a small group of parents began meeting to determine how best to educate their children with developmental disabilities. As parents wanted more for their children, they dared to dream of the opportunity for education and an enriching life for their loves and bonded together to create the first day school program in McHenry County, Illinois for children with developmental disabilities.

Decades before the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), this act of determination led to what would eventually become Pioneer Center for Human Services To this day, we continue to salute the courageous efforts of our founders and their steadfast focus on building a diversified, equitable community where all are respected and included.
