Providing qualified employees to area businesses

Pioneer Center fully embraces the Employment First initiative which is a national systems-change framework centered on the premise that all individuals, including those individuals with the most significant disabilities, are capable of full participation in Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) and community life. Backed by an experienced team of professionals to assess strengths, abilities, preferences and goals, the team matches job seekers with employment opportunities in the local job market. The Pioneer Center team can assist in the application process and also provide one-on-one job coaching, support and training as needed for applicants.

Eligibility

For Individuals:

Individuals interested in employment should set an appointment with Pioneer Center’s Community Employment Services Coordinator. They will consult and assist you with completing required paperwork for the Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) DHS: Rehabilitation Services: Apply Online

Once submitted, you will be contacted by the DRS to schedule an interview. To prepare for this interview and determine your eligibility, applicants should be prepared with the following documents:

  • Medical history (proof of disability)
  • Current mental health assessment (if primary diagnosis is a mental illness)
  • Proof of Social Security, State ID and/or Driver’s License
  • Release to work from physician and/or psychiatrist
  • Vocational report (if available)

For Employers:

There are substantial benefits for businesses – large and small – who value and appreciate each person for their individual differences and experiences. By investing in hiring people with disabilities—businesses can give themselves a competitive edge and demonstrate their commitment to diversity. Statistics have shown employees with disabilities provide equal or higher quality productivity, lower turnover, and higher job satisfaction. Federal and State financial incentives are also available for qualitied companies.
