Applied Behavior Analysis

Pioneer Center provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for adults 18 and up with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). ABA is a scientific framework focused on understanding and improving human behavior. A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) uses systematic interventions to increase positive behaviors and reduce or fade those that may be harmful and interfere with learning

ABA is a therapy based on proven methods to reduce behaviors that hinder learning the way and build skills including:

  • Communication
  • Social Interaction
  • Improve Attention/Memory
  • Daily Living

What We Can Help With

Our BCBA works with each client to identify goals that matter most to them and their support team. Services address the following areas:

  • Communication Skills – Developing functional communication that helps clients express their needs, build relationships, and engage with others in daily life.
  • Social Skills – Strengthening the social skills that open doors to personal connection, community participation, and greater independence.
  • Behavior Support – Identifying behaviors that interfere with daily life and using evidence-based strategies to reduce them while replacing them with healthier alternatives.
  • Daily Living Skills – Supporting clients in developing the practical skills needed to live and participate more independently in their home and community.

How It Works

ABA services at Pioneer Center follow a structured, individualized process from start to finish:

  • Assessment – The BCBA conducts a thorough assessment through interviews, observation, and review of existing records to understand each client’s strengths, challenges, and goals.
  • Behavior Plan Development – A personalized behavior support plan is created based on assessment findings, with clear goals and measurable targets.
  • Staff and Caregiver Training – The BCBA trains the people who work most closely with the client – including Direct Support Professionals, program leaders, and family members – to implement the plan consistently across all settings.
  • Ongoing Monitoring – Data is collected regularly by the care team, and the BCBA reviews progress and adjusts the plan as needed. Clinical outcomes are reviewed on a quarterly basis.
